Setting up your ADT POP3 email using Outlook Express MS Outlook 2000

 

 

Here is a simple step by step guide to setup an ADT hosted email account using the POP3 protocol on Microsoft Outlook 2000. Replace entries user@domain.com with the email address provided to you.

- Double click MS Outlook 2000 icon on the desktop or click Start > Programs > Microsoft Outlook 2000
- When asked to select the type of service, select Internet Only and click Next
- Outlook may launch a wizard to setup your mail account automatically
- You can also initiate the wizard yourself by clicking Toolsà Accounts
- Click Add on the top right and select Mail to launch the mail setup wizard
- On the Your Name box for Display name type your name e.g. Firstname Lastname and click Next
- On the Internet E-mail Address box for E-mail Address type user@domain.com and click Next
- On the E-mail Server Name box ensure the incoming mail server is Pop3
- On the E-mail Server Name box for Incoming mail (Pop3, IMAP ….) type promail.adtworld.net
- On the E-mail Server Name box for Outgoing mail (SMTP ….) type promail.adtworld.net
- Click Next
- On the Internet Mail Logon box for Account Name enter full email address user@domain.com
- On the Internet Mail Logon box for Password enter provided password
- On the Internet Mail Logon box tick the box Remember Password
- Click Next
- Click Finish

You are returned to the Mail tab and will see the account promail.adtworld.net created. Inbound mail collection is now configured and a small modification is required for outbound mail.

- Double click promail.adtworld.net
- On the Servers tab under Outgoing Mail Server tick the box My server requires authentication
- Click Apply
- Click OK
- Click Close

Double Click MS Outlook 2000 again and hit Send/Receive to check your mail.
