Q:

How do I access my email when I am at an Internet Café or other PC.

A:

For ADT hosted companies you can access your email directly through our webmail interface at http://promail.adtworld.net. This will allow you to send and receive emails. If you need to change your password or setup a vacation message, the you should use http://promail.adtworld.net:8383 Both interfaces require you to enter your full email address as the username and email account password. For customers not using ADT hosting you can check your mail from www.pop3now.com

Q:

I cannot send emails but can receive them OK.

A:

The most common reason that you cannot send messages is that our email server doesn’t know who you are and will not just send emails for anybody. This is known as mail relay. To send messages you need to enable the setting “My Outgoing Server Requires Authentication”. From within most versions of Microsoft Outlook this can be accessed by going to the menu items Tools, Accounts, selecting the email account you are trying to send from and clicking properties button. Now go the Servers tab and tick the option under Outgoing Mail Server, “My server requires authentication”. Note that you don’t need to change the settings button as the program will use your username and password that is already saved to collect mail. For other programs see their documentation on how to enable this setting.

Q:

Webmail keeps asking me to login again

A:

Some users have experienced problems access the ADT webmail service that runs on port 8383, for example http://promail.adtworld.com:8383 Research has shown the problem is typically due to the configuration of the proxy severs you are going through. If your proxy server is not required you can try removing the proxy server setting, for most ADSL users in the UAE this will resolve the problem. For other users you can use this link to send and receive email http://promail.adtworld.net To make other changes to your account you can email the help desk and we can assist you.

Q:

What is the maximum size of email messages I can send or receive.

A:

ADT hosting services have a maximum message size of 7.5MB allowed through our mail servers. This limit has been set to ensure that all our users are not effected by large messages blocking incoming or outgoing mail queues. Typically messages this large take a long time to download and users can find they cannot download due to intermittent disconnections on their Internet connection. To send or receive larger messages split up the files or use a compression utility like winzip. If you are sending images look into reducing the resolution or use a compressed file format like JPEG.

Q:

What is the space I am allowed for my mailbox.

A:

Typically Mailboxes on ADT’s hosting services are limited to 50MB in size. This limitation is applied to ensure mailboxes are large enough to take a number of large messages but not too large that one unattended mailbox could use up all of your companies disk space allocation. The size of disk space allowed in your hosting package could also be a limiting factor. You will be sent an email when you mailbox reaches 80% of its capacity at which time you should delete your messages.

Q:

People get messages saying my mailbox is full even after I have downloaded all my messages

A:

This is probably due to a setting in your mail software that is telling it not to delete messages after you have downloaded them to your computer. You can check this setting in Microsoft Outlook by going to the menu Tools, Accounts, Selecting the mail account and clicking the Properties Button. Then go the Advanced Tab and un-tick the box “Leave a Copy of the Message on the Server” If still have the same problem try deleting all the messages from our Webmail interface at http://promail.adtworld.net
